Troubleshooting
Even though you have the latest version of Media Player, your system
may still need to download the latest codec. This coder/decoder determines
precisely what format the video is converted to when digitized. It also
converts the digital signal to video on your computer. This component
may need to be routinely upgraded - Media Player may attempt to install
an updated codec automatically if you're connected to the web. The upgrade
should take a few minutes, and you should see a note somewhere on the
Media Player indicating that it is installing a new codec.
If you can hear audio, but not see video your connection
may not be fast enough or consistant enough to view high speed, high
resolution video. Please attempt to view a lower resolution version,
if available.
If you continue to experience problems, please contact
the webcast curator
with a note explaining as much of the following as possible:
-
which webcast(s) you cannot view
-
how you arrived at that webcast (webpage you clicked
the webcast link on)
-
which version of Media Player you're using
-
what operating system you're using
-
where you are trying to view the video from (e.g.
at home via modem or at work via LAN)
-
a way to contact you
-
a screenshot of the error message
